Children's Book
Kyo Kayamoto wrote a children's book about
an indigenous tribe in the Southern Chile
"Selk'nam" who went extinct in the late 19th century. But what if three of them had survived and lived in the modern world...
This book is about disappearing cultures, minority groups and cultural differences dealt on a personal level.
"Selk'nam" use animal oil to paint their body to keep themselves warm in the cold weather in Patagonia, which gives them a unique look.
The book explores their hunter-gatherer lifestyle and the pictures show some of Chilean traditional dishes.
The characters are turned into stuffed animals/ plushies and are on t-shirts.
They are available at online stores.
Children's Book Illustration
Collaborating with children's book writers and illustrating the books.
Starting from making thumbnails of the pages according to the story, to detailed sketches, colored pages and to finally laying out the texts to complete the book.
This one is about a cat's life, living with some generations of a family and it is done in a realistic drawing style with watercolor paint.
